Cahn & Samuels has a wealth of experience working with the U.S. Government in connection with intellectual property.

 

The firm has provided employee training regarding sessions regarding intellectual property. The sessions typically include how what happens after conception of an invention including how invention disclosures are handled and prepared through patenting and licensing. The firm provides an overview of the patent application process.  The training at times provided an overview about technical data rights and software rights as provided for in Government regulations.

 

The firm has provided due diligence services to assist with the uncovering of inventions at Government laboratories to include the preparation of invention disclosure forms by U.S. Government personnel during visits to U.S. Government facilities.  Attorneys from the firm have participated and briefed an Invention Evaluation Committee regarding inventions, inventorship, and issues surrounding intellectual property owned by the U.S. Government. The firm has and continues to assist in the formulation of patenting strategies to further the goals of an U.S. Government entity including taking into account inventorship as it relates to the patent claims.

 

The firm has prepared opinions relating to inventorship and provided advice to OSJA regarding responses to patent infringement allegations.

 

The firm has provided recommendations on how to possibly handle intellectual property issues at an U.S. Government entity.  As part of these recommendations, the firm has reviewed contracts and other funding agreements including the underlying files to provide analysis on impact on intellectual property ownership and rights in intellectual property developed under those contracts and other funding agreements.
