About our firm

Cahn & Samuels was founded in 1997 by two attorneys with distinguished credentials in the field of intellectual property law. In the era of skyrocketing billing rates and onerous hours' requirements, the founders sought to establish a small firm dedicated to providing high-quality, cost-effective service in a collegial setting. The firm has continued this approach to this day. In this regard, the firm has grown cautiously over the years, limiting its membership to other intellectual property professionals with proven track records and a similar credo of professionalism.

Today, Cahn & Samuels consists of a team of professionals having a diverse range of experience. The firm represents a broad range of clients, from individual inventors and small technology start-ups to Federal laboratories and corporations. Cahn & Samuels also represents clients in a broad range of activities, with proven core strengths extending from counseling, procurement and licensing of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, to portfolio development, enforcement, and litigation in the state and Federal courts. The firm also provides due diligence services and counseling regarding a full range of intellectual property issues. The firm has extensive knowledge regarding intellectual property contracts, grants, CRADAs, Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements, and other funding agreements as these agreements relate to Bayh-Dole, Government patent rights, and Government technical data rights. At the heart of the practice, Cahn & Samuels always works closely with its clients to ensure budgetary concerns are met.
